15 May 2014. "It's taken a long while but finally the latest, much improved, edition of the Fairs Archive website is now live.
A major new feature is the photo galleries, one for each fair for which we have pictures. Or a picture in one instance.
Over 800 have been uploaded so far, with many more to be added in the weeks ahead. Barsham 1973, 75 and 76, Bungay 1976 and Alby in 1981 are all large galleries. And there are another eight galleries of a more modest size.
All the fairs at Lyng, East Bergholt and Rougham are still to come, as are Herringfleet(1980) and Thornham (1983). Photo's are being processed and uploaded as fast as we can, but there is a still a queue of slides and prints to go through the scanner.
The poster, flyers and other artwork have galleries too, and there is film and more audio to come sometime soon.
Also new is that comments can now be added directly to the site. You need to register and get a logon and password, but once that is done you're in.
We hope you like it, we've enjoyed putting it together and intend to keep it growing. Still plenty of material to be added.
Let us know what you think, and build it up with your memories, if they have survived the attrition of the years.
And a big thank you to Paul and Robert up in Perthshire without whose support and expertise the site wouldn't exist.
Martin and Mike"
